Federal Skilled Trades Program (FSTP) is one of the immigration programs managed by Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) via Express Entry. This program is designed especially for qualified skilled trade workers who want to attain Canadian Permanent Residence.

In Federal Skilled Trades Program (FSTP) it is mandatory for the Skilled Workers, to have at least 2 years of full–time paid work experience (or an equal amount of part-time work experience) in a skilled trade profile in the past five (5) years before the submission of application to IRCC.

These Skilled Trade Profiles are divided into two (2) groups of National Occupational Classification (NOC) i.e. Major Group and Minor Group.

The work experience of a skilled worker will only be considered once the skilled worker qualifies to work independently into the particular occupation.
