Temporary Resident to Permanent Resident Pathway, Canada

Recognizing the value of economic immigration, Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) established a Temporary Resident to Permanent Resident Pathway. This path is intended for temporary residents and their family members who are currently living and working in Canada.

If you meet the following criteria, you may be able to apply for permanent residence through this route:

  •   The applicant has work experience in an essential occupation or the health services field in Canada, or
  •   The applicant recently completed his or her post-secondary education in Canada.

IRCC proposes 6 streams into this pathway, in which 3 streams accept both English and French-speaking applicants, and the other 3 streams accept only French Speakers.
