On Wednesday, April 19, 2023, 12:01 a.m. E.T. marked the formal start of the PSAC strike.
Due to this month’s IRCC strike, the processing of Canadian immigration applications will now be delayed.
Peerless Immigration Services is following the strike updates in real-time and updating the information for the benefit of Immigrants as new information becomes available.
As anticipated, the PSAC, which represents workers at the IRCC, has now declared a strike in order to press for the fulfillment of its objectives.
As sources are to reveal that IRCC staff supervisors spoke to their team members virtually about the strike between 2:00 and 3:30 p.m. EST.
They have instructed their team that long-term/indeterminate (full-time employees) will go on strike beginning at 12:01 am EST Wednesday, April 19, 2023, in alignment with the PSAC instructions.
Employees of the IRCC are currently formally on strike until the government accedes to their demands.
However, those hired for a brief period of time on a temporary basis will carry on as normal. To reduce backlogs, temporary, short-term staff were hired; they do not belong to a union.
These temporary workers mostly deal with applications for temporary visas, including those for visitors, workers, and students.
They receive 80 applications for temporary visas each day from various nations.
Because permanent staff handles more complex permanent residency applications, there may be a delay in their processing.
After 9 am EST today, the latest update and the strike duration that PSAC decides upon will be crucial to notice.
