Who Can Submit a Submission?
Canberra extends invitations to applicants who have submitted applications for both a Skilled Nominated visa (subclass 190) and a Skilled Work Regional (Provisional) visa (subclass 491).
The Skilled Nominated Visa (subclass 190) allows permanent residency in Australia. To qualify, your name must be put forward by a State or Territory administration. The Department of Home Affairs issues the visa invitation based on this nomination.
Two-Year Commitment
If the ACT (Australian Capital Territory) nominates you for a 190 visa, you must reside and work in Canberra for at least two years after receiving your visa. This requirement extends to two years from your arrival date in Canberra if you are migrating from outside Canberra.
Skilled workers can live and work in regional Australia for up to five years with the Skilled Regional Work Visa (subclass 491). A state or territorial agency must propose you, and the Department of Home Affairs issues the visa invitation.
Two-Year Commitment
For a 491 visa nominated by the ACT, you must live and work in Canberra for a minimum of two years after receiving your visa. This also applies if you are immigrating from outside Australia.
