These are invitations to seek state nomination, not visa grants. Subclass 190 is a permanent visa; subclass 491 is provisional and can lead to subclass 191 permanent residence when its requirements are met.
No. Tasmania's ROI ranking and the federal skilled migration points test are separate assessments. A score of 319 in this round does not mean applicants need 319 federal points.
Applicants still need to meet the relevant visa and Tasmanian pathway requirements. State nomination provides five federal points for subclass 190 or 15 for subclass 491.
Tasmania also reported assessment benchmarks of 427 for subclass 190 and 81 for subclass 491, calculated from a rolling three-month average. These differ from this round's lowest invited scores.
The higher 190 assessment figure does not automatically disqualify someone invited at 319. Tasmania examines the claimed priority attributes. If unsupported attributes reduce the score below the assessment benchmark, nomination can be refused. A Gold applicant must meet the Gold attribute relied upon.
It does not mean Tasmania has opened general offshore selection. No invitations are planned through the subclass 491 Overseas Skilled Occupation Profiles invitation-only pathway for 2026-27.
The subclass 190 overseas pathway remains relevant to eligible health and teaching professionals with a qualifying job offer from a Tasmanian health provider or school. Being on a skilled occupation list alone does not establish eligibility for that pathway.
For people living in Tasmania, nomination pathways include skilled employment, Tasmanian graduation, established residence and business operation, each with its own requirements.
Migration Tasmania has scheduled that week's ROI invitations for Friday 23 October 2026 instead of Thursday 22 October because of Hobart Show Day.
PEERLESS IMMIGRATION SERVICES can assess which pathway fits your residence, employment or study circumstances, distinguish your federal points from Tasmania's ROI ranking, and identify whether the priority attributes in your profile are supported. Nomination and visa approval are not guaranteed.
