Australia Immigration: In order to draw in more skilled immigrants, a system akin to that in Canada and Germany will be implemented in Australia.
In order to expedite the entry of highly trained people, Australia plans to radically alter its immigration policy. One of the main goals of the strategy is to streamline the permanent residency procedure, as the federal Labour government has announced changes to the method that is currently utilized to pick skilled immigrants. The points system that is now used to choose qualified applicants will be altered to include individuals that are better for the Australian economy.
“Our immigration system is inoperable. It fails both our businesses and the migrants themselves. It is failing Australians, which is the most important factor. Home Affairs Minister Clare O’Neil emphasized that this could not go on.
As Australia deals with the inevitable difficulty of an aging population, systems akin to those in Canada and Germany will be implemented to draw in more skilled migrants.
The government added that the application process for high-skilled professionals’ visas will be streamlined and made simpler. It promised to take action to keep overseas students. By the end of this year, those with temporary skilled visas who had previously been denied the chance to seek for permanent residency would be able to do so under the new system.
As businesses struggled with severe staff shortages, Australia increased its annual intake of permanent migrants by 35,000 to 195,000 in September. The government said that as of July 1 it would increase the migrant pay threshold for temporary skilled workers from A$53,900 to A$70,000, the first adjustment since 2013.
