Eligibility criteria for Home Affairs (Australian Government)
Eligibility criteria for Migration Queensland:
Please be aware that invitations will only be given to individuals who meet Queensland’s minimum requirements. No extensions will be given, and applicants who are invited must have their paperwork prepared and uploaded within 7 days of being invited. Processing timeframes are currently between 4 and 6 weeks from the date of your invitation.
Step 1: Review your eligibility requirements, visa requirements, and document checklist. Before you submit your EOI, make sure you meet the requirements of both Migration Queensland and the Home Affairs Immigration Eligibility Criteria. Additionally, make sure you have all the necessary paperwork, including registration proof if your occupation so requires.
Step 2: Use SkillSelect to submit an Expression of Interest (EOI) for Queensland state nomination. The only people who will be chosen are those who choose “Queensland” as their nomination state.
Step 3: All EOIs that satisfy the Home Affairs Immigration Eligibility Criteria and Migration Queensland requirements are evaluated by Migration Queensland. If you are chosen, you will get an email inviting you to submit an application and request the necessary paperwork.
Step 4: Get an invitation from Migration Queensland
Following the date of the invitation, you have 14 days to submit your application. If you don’t submit your application by the deadline, it will be closed, and you’ll have to submit a new EOI if you wish to reapply for Queensland nomination.
Step 5: The Department of Home Affairs will invite you to submit your visa application after receiving and approving your completed application through Migration Queensland. Your application must be submitted to them within 60 days.
You can submit an application for a subclass 190 or subclass 491 regional nomination if you are a skilled worker who resides abroad.
If you match the conditions for a Queensland state nomination, Migration Queensland could extend an invitation for you to submit more supporting documents.
