For an Indian applicant budgeting for Canada PR through Express Entry, the current federal application charge is CAD 1,590 per adult when both the processing fee and right of permanent residence fee apply. That is one part of the budget. Language tests, credential assessment, medical examinations, documents and any provincial charge must be considered separately.
This guide covers economic PR budgeting, particularly Express Entry. It is not a family-sponsorship, business-immigration or temporary-visa fee quote. Start with your route and family composition; a single advertised “total Canada PR cost” cannot accurately describe every application.
The following Canadian-dollar amounts reflect IRCC's fee schedule effective 30 April 2026, checked on 27 October 2026. They apply to the listed economic categories, including Federal Skilled Worker, Federal Skilled Trades, Canadian Experience Class and Provincial Nominee applications.
| Applicant or charge | CAD | What it covers |
|---|---|---|
| Principal applicant | 990 + 600 = 1,590 | Processing plus right of permanent residence fee (RPRF) |
| Accompanying spouse or common-law partner | 990 + 600 = 1,590 | Processing plus RPRF |
| Accompanying dependent child | 270 per child | Processing; dependent children do not pay RPRF |
| Biometrics, where required | 85 per person | Fingerprints and photograph |
| Eligible family biometrics maximum | 170 | Two or more eligible family members applying at the same time |
Official fee evidence: IRCC fee list and 2026 fee changes. Provincial nomination charges, where applicable, are additional to the federal fees shown here.
These are calculated federal-fee examples, not complete migration budgets. They assume each adult needs biometrics and pays RPRF; the third example includes one dependent child under 14, who is exempt from biometrics.
| Example | PR fees including RPRF | Biometrics | Federal subtotal |
|---|---|---|---|
| One adult | CAD 1,590 | CAD 85 | CAD 1,675 |
| Two adults | CAD 3,180 | CAD 170 | CAD 3,350 |
| Two adults and one dependent child under 14 | CAD 3,450 | CAD 170 | CAD 3,620 |
Biometrics exemptions and family-fee eligibility affect the actual amount. IRCC's biometrics requirements list the applicable exemptions.
Provider-specific charges are not presented as a universal rupee price. The scope of your assessment, test location, document requirements and family members determine the actual expense. Relevant official guidance: language tests, ECAs and medical examinations.
Settlement funds are money available for settling in Canada, not a fee paid to IRCC or a consultant. Federal Skilled Worker and Federal Skilled Trades applicants generally need them. Canadian Experience Class applicants are exempt; a separate exemption applies where the applicant has both Canadian work authorisation and a valid job offer.
On 27 October 2026, the official Express Entry page still displayed the table labelled “Updated July 7, 2025”. These are the amounts displayed there, not a newly announced 2026 increase:
| Family size | Displayed minimum funds (CAD) |
|---|---|
| 1 | 15,263 |
| 2 | 19,001 |
| 3 | 23,360 |
| 4 | 28,362 |
Family size includes a spouse or partner and dependent children even when they are not accompanying you. Funds must remain available when applying and when the PR visa is issued. Source: IRCC proof-of-funds requirements.
At the Express Entry PR application stage, processing fees must be paid when submitting. RPRF can be paid upfront to avoid later payment delays. Creating a profile and submitting the PR application are different stages; allow for document expenses before the final application stage.
IRCC does not refund the processing fee after processing starts. RPRF is refunded if an application is withdrawn or refused. Medical expenses are not refunded by IRCC following refusal, and private-provider or consultancy refunds depend on the relevant terms. Source: Express Entry payment and refund guidance.
Use four separate budget lines: federal and provincial charges; tests, assessments and documents; professional services; and relocation. Keep required settlement funds available alongside these expenses. If fees are paid from an Indian bank account, the rupee debit also depends on the bank's conversion rate and applicable card or payment charges. A fixed online CAD-to-INR conversion is not a final payment quote.
Before committing to an expensive package, establish the immigration route, which family members will apply, which documents are already valid, and what each quoted service actually includes. Paying more does not secure an invitation, nomination, job or visa decision.
Peerless Immigration Services can review your route, family composition and document readiness, then provide a clear scope of assistance and cost breakdown. Read our Canada PR process guide for the wider application stages.
