Victoria has opened Registrations of Interest (ROIs) for its 2026–27 Skilled Nominated visa (subclass 190) nomination program, with 900 nomination places available for the program year. The Victorian Government published the opening announcement on 26 October 2026.
These are state nomination places, not 900 invitations already issued or visas granted. Eligible applicants living in India can be considered under the offshore requirements.
| Visa | Current Victorian status | 2026–27 nomination places |
|---|---|---|
| Subclass 190 | Open for ROIs | 900 |
| Subclass 491 | ROIs not currently accepted | Allocation not yet finalised |
The opening announcement applies to subclass 190. Victoria says further information about subclass 491 will follow once its allocation is confirmed.

Applicants must satisfy both Home Affairs visa requirements and Victoria's nomination requirements. Victoria currently requires applicants to:
Onshore applicants living in another Australian state or territory are generally not selected, with some border-community exceptions. Victoria does not require applicants to be working or meet a minimum work-experience or weekly-hours condition for this nomination route. Separate skills-assessment and visa requirements still apply.
At nomination application, Victoria requires at least 12 weeks' remaining validity on the English test and skills assessment.
Official eligibility: Victorian Government
Victoria uses its Victorian Points Test (VPT) to rank ROIs. Its seven weighted factors are age, English, experience in the nominated occupation, education, occupation skill level, partner skills where applicable and eligible Victorian skilled-employment earnings where applicable.
Selection considers the most competitive ROIs across eligible occupations, alongside priority-industry selection. Meeting the Australian points-test minimum does not guarantee a Victorian invitation. Applicants should distinguish their federal eligibility score from their VPT ranking.
Official ranking rules: Victorian Government
Victoria identifies specified occupations in healthcare, social assistance, education and construction. Priority applies to the listed occupations and subgroups; it is not a blanket preference for everyone employed in those industries. All eligible occupations can still be considered through the most-competitive selection route.
The education list includes a separate Early Childhood Education subgroup: Victoria prioritises ROIs with at least one year of relevant experience and Proficient or Superior English. Applicants must match their actual occupation and evidence to the applicable requirements.

| Stage | Excluding GST | Including GST, where applicable |
|---|---|---|
| Registration of Interest | AUD 60 | AUD 66 |
| Subclass 190 nomination application | AUD 180 | AUD 198 |
GST of 10% applies if the applicant is in Australia when paying. The nomination application fee is payable only when invited and submitting that application.
The ROI fee is charged once per program year; withdrawing and submitting another ROI in the same year does not trigger another ROI fee. A new nomination application attracts a new nomination application fee.
These state charges are separate from the Home Affairs visa application charge and other costs. Fees are generally non-refundable; receiving no invitation, withdrawal or refusal does not ordinarily establish refund entitlement. The official policy allows some administrative or technical-error exceptions.

The sequence is eligibility review, a current SkillSelect EOI, a Victorian ROI and—only if invited—a nomination application. A successful nomination is followed by the Home Affairs visa stage.
An ROI from an earlier program year does not carry forward: a new 2026–27 ROI is required. An ROI is not itself a nomination application. Victoria publishes no fixed invitation-round dates, and ROI selection has no processing timeframe or guaranteed outcome.
For nomination applications, Victoria publishes an average assessment time of 20 business days, excluding time waiting for requested additional information. This is not the processing time for an ROI or the subsequent visa decision.
At the time of checking, Victoria's website also displayed a notice that a possible payment-provider issue was causing some declined payments. This is a current operational notice, not an announcement that the program is closed.
